John E. Jessee

John E. Jessee was born and raised in Washington County, VA. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1989 and graduated from University of Kentucky in May 1993 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with Departmental Honors in Finance. John graduated December 1995 with a Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.  In April 1996, John was appointed Attorney and Counselor of Law by the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Virginia and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in June 1996. In July 1996, John was admitted to the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia and to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia. John became licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee by the Supreme Court in Tennessee in September 2001. He was admitted to the State of Tennessee Judicial Department Supreme Court and to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in December 2001.

John began his legal career as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Russell County, Virginia and served approximately four years.  In 2001, John joined the law firm of Jessee, Read & Howard, P.C. (f/k/a Jessee & Read, P.C.). John has a solid background in criminal law, traffic and DUI law, personal injury law, bankruptcy law, workers’ compensation law, corporation law, and social security law. John has served as a Past-President of the Washington County Bar Association and as Past-Treasurer of the Southwest Virginia Bankruptcy Bar Association.
